Structural Reform, Technological Progress and Total Factor Productivity in Manufacturing

Beneficial institutional environments help to improve TFP in manufacturing. However, it is unclear whether China’s structural reform has led improvements the manufacturing industry. In this study, Sys-GMM was employed assess relationships between reform, technological progress and using panel data from provincial-level administrative regions China 2010 2020. The results showed following: (1) Structural induced a spiral-shaped upward trend of by affecting levels enterprises China, which also enhanced regional technology levels. (2) impact market-oriented on industrial similar that entire reform; however, innovation did not significantly TFP, had no regulatory effect although supply public services could promote exhibited significant these improvements. (3) flow labor significantly, positively correlated with while resource idleness salient inhibitory effect. addition, enhancement disclosed comparative advantage, as well further opening expansion operation scales industry, even more.
